FAQ: SiteLive
Where can I see an example of SiteLive in action? You're looking at one! This site runs the latest version of SiteLive. How can I edit tables from within SiteLive admin? SiteLive admin uses a WYSIWYG editor called htmlArea to enable easy editing of pages from any web browser. If you need to edit tables in your web site then contact PerryTech and ask for the Table Operations plug in to be enabled on your installation. Is there an easy way to cut and paste in items from Microsoft Office? When you cut and paste items from Microsoft Office there is a great deal of unnecessary information that can distort the formatting in your web site. Once you have pasted the information into htmlArea you should press Ctrl+0 (zero) to clean up the HTML. Can I run a blog on SiteLive? SiteLive doesn't currently support blogging 'out of the box', however, if you install the latest version of WordPress on the same server (using the same MySQL database) then you can log in to SiteLive using the same username and password that you use for your WordPress blog. Please contact your PerryTech representative before you attempt a manual installation. What is the current version of SiteLive? The most recent version is 1.01. You can find out what version you have installed by logging into your admin area - the version is displayed on the front page. How can I update my SiteLive installation when a new version is available? SiteLive is updated automatically when a new version is released by PerryTech. You will be contacted by email to let you know when the update is due to take place. Updates are carried out automatically from our services server (http://services.perrytech.co.uk) between 03:00 and 04:00 GMT. You will also receive email notification when the update is successful. How do I backup my SiteLive pages? If your SiteLive installation is on a PerryTech managed server then your site is automatically backed up every night at 04:01. The files are saved on PerryTech's backup server which is located in a separate data centre on a different network trunk from our primary hosting site. If your SiteLive installation is not on a PerryTech managed server then you need to run the backup function in the admin area on a regular basis to generate a copy of your SiteLive pages. The best way to do this is to set up a cron job on your hosting server which will run the script automatically and generate the backup's with no need for human intervention. |
